Glottal Enterprises founder Martin Rothenberg has developed an interactive instructional program, WaveviewStudent, which covers many aspects of voice science that are centered on broadband airflow measurement combined with electroglottograph waveforms. The program was designed for use in academic programs related to speech science, as well as for practicing clinicians wanting to strengthen their skills.
WaveviewStudent consists of a 52-page exercise manual, a functionally restricted version of the WaveviewPro software for airflow and EGG analysis, and a set of prerecorded airflow and EGG recordings that the user will analyze while progressing through the manual.
In addition to interactive instruction in voice analysis, including voice analysis by inverse filtering, the WaveviewStudent exercise manual contains a section on analyzing and understanding airflow patterns in consonants. Throughout the program there is a stress on relating the time and frequency domains, both in the graphic analysis and auditory result of the analysis. The use of a microphone signal for inverse filtering is also covered, as well as simplified approximate inverse filtering by a low pass filter. Though employing a version of the Glottal Enterprises software, the skills taught will be valuable for using any other program for airflow and EGG analysis.
This instructional program is supplied on a CD also containing AeroviewStudent, teaching the measurement and interpretation of glottal flow resistance using simultaneous airflow and intra-oral pressure records, as well as NasalityStudent, teaching the measurement of voice nasalance.
Glottal Enterprises would be pleased to mail you a complementary copy of this new three-program CD to share with your colleagues or students.
